Make & Freeze Homemade Waffles

I'm a pretty frugal DIY type of gal, a single mother always looking for a way to save some money!! I don't mind doing things myself to save and making our own breakfast ahead of time from scratch saves tons! My son's favorite thing for breakfast aside from a bowl of cereal is waffles, we were having to buy a new box every week. This can add up. Why not save and make them yourself?
Not only does it save money, they are so much fluffier and tastier this way. I went and bought a waffle maker just for the purpose of making in large batches and freezing ahead of time. We have been doing this for a year now and I only have to the do the large batches a few times a year, it lasts for us. Basic staples = healthy yummy breakfast for months.

Homemade Waffles

Recipe adapted from
2 cups flour (all-purpose or wheat)
4 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 and 3/4 cups milk
2 eggs
1 tablespoon sugar
1/2 cup coconut oil or vegetable oil

After all the waffles are cooled off on the racks, I take them and fill them two at a time in freezer bags. I then take a straw and suck the air out of the bags and seal.

  1. I do love waffles so now I have to get a waffle maker. via from Etsy.

  2. I used to make things ahead of time for my kids as well. I think it is so much better to know what ingredients are being used in our foods, rather then buying premade stuff. Hope you visit me too at
