Colorado Winter

I love photography, its something that brings me happiness to capture moments and emotions. Here in Colorado we are in full swing of Winter and that means everything gets a coat of White snow. I couldn't wait to get out and take pictures this day, I had so much work on my plate with my Etsy shop orders that I just needed a moment to break away and just Be.

A warm fire / Winter tradition

One of my favorite things about purchasing this small condo, was the fact it had a rustic fireplace and a place to burn wood for warmth. Its something we look forward to every season, we have burned many already. My son simply loves this act, he knows this means homemade hot Cocoa and movies comes with it. This is one of our most treasured traditions.

What is one of your Winter traditions?

Our Christmas Decor

We decided to key it down a little this year for Christmas, as we will not be here for most of it. We are going to visit family and enjoy it else where. However we did still add a little cheer to our home. Here is our Christmas d├ęcor 2015.

DIY LEGO Snow Globe

I was making some adult snow globes the other day and thought my 9 year old son would enjoy one for his room and got to brainstorming some ideas. I came up with a Lego Christmas tree water snow globe!!
This one is super easy to do, here is the how to:
What you need:
Mason jar with lid
Glycerin Liquid Soap
hot glue gun and sticks
Lego pieces {we used a Lego tree}
How too:
We started by hot gluing the Lego tree to the bottom of the lid, then gluing the round Christmas tree ornaments on. My son also made some mini presents to put under the tree. We glued those to the bottom as well. Wait till its ll dry and add water almost to the top of the jar and then add in the glycerin soap, this makes the glitter fall slower to the bottom. We didn't use a specific amount around 2 tablespoons. Then add in your glitter, we bought the large chunky glitter so we could see it easier. Then screw the lid on tight, this took me a few times and got a few leaks but finally got it right.
That's it! Simple and fun

Homemade DIY Herb Gifts

We had a very abundant garden this year, full of Organic herbs. I taught myself how to dry them and crush them and then decided "Hey why not gift them?!"
I personally think homemade gifts are the best, they are personal and took some care and thought. I got to gift these to my mother, Caleb's other grandmother and my friend. They taste just amazing and are a special treat to homemade meals.

These were a few of our herbs this year

My post about how to dry herbs, in case you want to try this next year!!

DIY Wooden Clothespins Ornaments + Our Tree

This was another really cool homemade ornament, that we added to our natural themed Christmas tree. It was really fun & simple. We went with a very small tree this year, seeing we are out of town in a few days. It a beautiful little tree, with the cutest Amber lights I found at Hobby Lobby. Its just perfect and will be happy to see it again next year.

DIY Wooden Clothes Pen Ornaments
found here

You'll need:
clothespins {we bought mini ones for our mini tree}
glue gun
wood stain
pretty ribbon

Begin by taking apart 8 wooden clothespins. The wooden slats easily slide right out of the metal spring with a little maneuvering. Each clothespin will give you two wooden pieces – simply align the flat sides of these two pieces and hot glue together. To start the snowflake shape, take two of the ‘glued’ pieces and hot glue them together along the small angle end. Continue with two more ‘glued’ pieces until you have an “x” shape. Insert the remaining four ‘glued’ pieces into each corner and secure with more hot glue. Your snowflake is complete and ready to stain. After I hot glued some ribbon the the back side for hanging.

Ice Skating + Small moments

This time of year can be so fun, with all the festivities and winter activities. Every year we mange to ice skate, next year we vowed to find a lake here in the mountains to go to and have the real exsperience. Caleb loves it, I sent him out alone this time and he did great.

 Penny for your thoughts?

and some small moments over the last week
