crock pot Red beans and rice

crock pot Red beans and rice
I was on the hunt to find something to make with rice, my wonderful brother was kind enough to send me a gift card to bed bath and beyond for my birthday and I purchased a rice cooker! This one here
Digital Simplicity Deluxe Rice Cooker/Steamer
I make the worst rice on earth, every time it would come out soggy or burnt. This gadget is AMAZING, the perfect cooked rice. Plus it steams vegis!

So I found this simple yet yummy looking recipe here and it turned out great! Only warning it is a little on the spicy side [which hubby preferred]

Crock Pot Red Beans and Rice

1 pound red beans
7 cups water
1 green bell pepper, chopped
1 medium onion, chopped
3 celery stalks, chopped
3 garlic cloves, chopped or minced
2 cans Campbell's chicken broth
1-1/2 pounds sausage (I used Richards)
2 tablespoons Creole Seasoning (I use Tony's)
Hot cooked rice

Add 7 cups of water to slow cooker and chicken broth
Wash beans, dice up the bell pepper, onion and celery.
Add all the above into crock pot.
Add in the seasoning, garlic and sliced sausage
Cook 7 hours on high and enjoy!

our thanksgiving

Our Thanksgiving was a personal and small one, one that I have been wanting and yearning to do for years now. Typically every year we go to my MIL's for dinner and dessert and this year I wanted to do it all on my own with my little family! Lots of work preparing and baking all day, but totally worth the quiteness and less stress.

Above pic: dinner table set, caleb and I went for a nature walk and collected twigs and branches to create a "thankful tree", which is a tree with tags hung from it with words and things that you are thankful for. Example: God, family, health etc. Our turkey cooked perfectly, 12 pounds and tons of left overs. My plate on right, was STUFFED! Ahh the way it should be on Thanksgiving...

Caleb was taking a break on his scooter on the way to a trail we walked down for the twigs

Calebs dad got off of work early in the morning and built some legos with him before he headed off to bead, the end result was a huge under water sub. BEFORE I even started on the turkey and dinner foods I had to stamp out some of my Etsy shop orders, they are piling in high right now and having to work just about every day to keep up! Its blessing but also takes away what little free time I have. I did hire help first time ever, she started this week!! Excited! The football game came on after we watched the parade, not sure who even won? Football is def. NOT my thing.

Thanksgiving Art

source

Dedicated to this time of year, remember to give thanks and hope you all have a BEAUTIFUL thanksgiving!! Stay safe. We have plans to have our own thanksgiving at home this year, I have never had the chance to do our own and am excited that it is our first. Usually every year we go to my Mil's house, but I wanted to try something different this year. We will be going there after for pie and so Caleb can run about with his cousins. Anyone doing Black Friday shopping tonight? There are two websites I'll be shopping on, hoping to score some good things. You will not find me in stores this year {again a first}, its always way to hectic for me and I just don't do well in crowds.
Enjoy some of my favorite pics, browsing DA
