Fall Class Party

 Fall Class Party
Caleb's kindergarten class had a Fall party today, was so cute to watch Caleb interact with all his classmates and see what he has been learning. I helped with bringing juice boxes, each kids got one and then they all made witches hands! Totally cute idea, I found a how to on pinterest here if interested

there was spooky Halloween music for the class while the kids were cutting and pasting Halloween projects. Hence is the face you see above, Caleb heard a spoooookey noise.

Miss. Gardner [Caleb's teacher] had the kids sing several songs to show the parents, LOVED it.

spiced pumpkin seeds
These were the BEST pumpkin seeds I have ever had, it was all in the SEASONING!! Even Caleb is hooked on them. I think I need to go and buy another pumpkin just for the seeds, HA! Recipe found via shewearsmanyhats
Recipe for seasoned seeds:
remove seeds from pumpkin
was and clean off guts
spread out to dry on towel/cloth
  • 1 cup pumpkin seeds, rinsed and dry
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne powder
  • 1/2 ounce olive oil
  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. In a bowl combine all ingredients until seed are coated well.
  3. Spread evenly on a baking sheet and bake until toasted and slightly browned, about 15-20 minutes, tossing halfway through. Watch carefully to avoid burning as all ovens vary on cook times. Remove from oven, and let cool before serving.

Halloween Goodies

Halloween Goodies
Look!! My sons a zombie & a vampire!! *insert scream
One of my favorite photo editing programs is altering pics for Halloween, go give it a try its fun!

My mother is ashamed of this picture and Im posting it anyways. I seen this "blood bag" candy bag at the grocery store and HAD to have it.
No worries, Caleb only sipped for a few seconds for this shot and then it went into the trash. I'm positive it had unreal amounts of sugar and high fructose syrup in it.

Everyday of school for this month of October I have been making Halloween themed lunches for him. Cats cut into the tortillas, Halloween cupcake, Halloween napkin, Halloween joke lunch note. I have 6-8 Halloween cutters and other special Halloween specific snacks that go with him daily.

fall activities

fall activities
I found another fall gig here in town, this one was smaller but still fun. First time Caleb did a potato sack race and "pumpkin" bowling. We did other things like masks, ring toss, games, learned cpr and played on the playground

This last one was a personal favorite, it was around 15 feet of hanging metals that kids could bang sticks on to make music. Simple and cheap, to bad we live in the city or I would do this living in the country!

Red/Foilage [Nurture Photography]

Red/Foilage [Nurture Photography]
Another advantage here in CO are the varities of leaf colors, one of my personal favorite colors for trees is Red! I just read a book to my kiddo on why tree leaves vary in color from one another and thought I would post this tid bit here for you as well:
Where do leaf colors come from? Leaf color comes from pigments. Pigments are natural substances produced by leaf cells. The three pigments that color leaves are:
  • chlorophyll (green)
  • carotenoid (yellow, orange, and brown)
  • anthocyanin (red)
Then I found this website that has a list of trees and their corrisponding leaf colors!

Pumpkin Patch [Pumpkin Pickin!]

Pumpkin Picking
It has been a few years since we went to a farm and hand picked our pumpkin and our first time to actually cut one off of the vine! David, Caleb and I worked it out that we would have a family fall day today, most times its just Caleb and I and takes some special planning to get my husband to come along as well. He works crazy hours and works ALOT, so today was nice for us all.
I book marked this farm months ago due to the good ratings, they had three separate places to pick your own pumpkin and it was a flat rate of 6$ no matter how big or small you got it. Hubby picked out the perfect jack o lantern style one and him and Caleb got to "saw" the vine off together. Gorgeous day, no snow!

After picking out or pumpkin we headed near David's work place and found a nice little trail, Caleb and I collected mini pine cones and colorful changed pin needles. Little things we don't get to see and appreciate in the city.

glow in the dark dance

 glow in the dark dance
a dance given for K-4th graders, to help raise money for a store for the kiddos to shop at with their "bison bucks" they earn for good behavior. Caleb LOVED it, they had popular main stream music, lights everywhere and the gym was packed full of kids having a blast! You could buy pizza, drinks and glow in the dark bracelets. We purchased Caleb's at the dollar store and had a wand, necklaces, and bracelets. The school encouraged the kids to dress up in their Halloween costumes,  Caleb's costume this year is a skeleton!
