diy bubbles

Such a easy and cost effective thing to make for your kiddos to enjoy! Homemade bubbles, makes quite a bit and you can keep filling up their jars/containers. Even more reason to save those old bubble wands after your done.

This one is simple!!

I bought a cheap 2$ plastic pitcher to store it all in from Walmart. I used Ajax soap to keep costs down, HOWEVER nothing works like dawn = more bubbles! Use 4 cups water, 3/4" cup dawn, 6 tablespoons corn oil. Mix it all together and your good to have some bubble blowing fun

DIY: Pool Noodle Race Track

I have discovered pintrest and all the really neat and cool diy kid crafts that are posted there, this Saturday I decided to make a race track out of a pool noddle! I found the idea from ramblingsfromutopia and had to try it, I posted our DIY turnout. Caleb couldn't wait for his buddies to come over so they could race, cheap and easy entertainment!

Just to say, this time of year is quite a challenge to find pool noodles!! We originally set out to find a larger noodle that a car could make it down, but only found small centered hole ones and then decided to convert to a marble race.

1. cut the noodle in half with a serrated knife, I used a basic kitchen knife [they cut easy]
2. once the noodle is in two pieces lay them side by side and insert toothpicks where the two halves of the foam touch each other
3. use as many toothpicks as need to hold the noodle tracks tight together
4. with nose pliers [I used wire cutters] clip the ends of the tooth picks flush to the noodle
5. for the flags: heavy card stock and toothpicks, create small flags for along the sides of the track

with card stock cut rectangles Start and Finish, then I cut bamboo skewers down to size leaving the pointed end exposed (makes it easier to insert into the foam) then used Aleene's Tacky glue I glued the two pieces of card stock together with the cut ends of the wooden skewers in between

Finally lean the track up, we used trees outside. Your ready for a race!

the zoo

Caleb, David and I decided to visit the zoo last week, to visit the new elephant exhibit. So hot, but totally fun to get out as a family. Caleb's favorite part each time is feeding the parrot bird, you buy a small dish with nectar and offer it to the birds and they drink from it. I also bought Caleb his first umbrella ever, he got to test it in a area with heavy mist. Caleb's school is doing a field trip to the zoo next month, hes excited as it never gets old for him.

calebs bento kids lunches

I have always admired the lunches you see, the "bentos" where the parents create these amazing lunches for their kids to take to school with them. They make a theme out of the lunch, cut shapes etc. here some EXAMPLES

I love making things a little fun for Caleb, though I do not go to the extreme some parents do. I always pop quiz him to see if hes eating everything "so what shape was your p&b today?" he gets excited to let me know what he all seen in there. Heres a few of ours.

back to school Kindergarten

Caleb has made it through one full week of school, he is staying home today as he woke up three times in the night getting little sleep and crying all this morning due to a sore throat and low grade fever. Im headed out here in a few to grab some mediation to ease hime, poor kiddo just starting school and got sick. Seems like everyone we know is sick right now, so its no wonder!

created a back to school treasury on etsy

then I have had this one on my computer saving it for when school started back, its a tear jerker and had me sobbing!! How many mothers can relate?

Kindergarten Wonder
by Wendy Silva

I wonder what you’re doing right now
and if everyone is treating you kind.
I hope there is a special person
a nice friend that you can find.

I wonder if the teacher knows just
how special you are to me.
And if the brightness of your
heart is something she can see.

I wonder if you are thinking about
me and if you need a hug.
I already miss the sound of your
voice and how you give my leg a tug.

I wonder if you could possibly understand
how hard it is for me to let you grow.
On this day know that my heart breaks
for this is the first step in letting my baby go.

First day of Kindergarten

I knew this day would come, it seems like time passes by so much faster when it actually gets closer into view. My only son, my buddy who is next to my side no matter where I go had his first day of school. We have been preparing for that day, practicing and talking about what to exspect. I droped him off and walked him to the class door, he hugged me and told me "I'll miss you mom", waved and went in without looking back. It was hard, but I held tuff. Drove home, got home opened the door and heard the silence of the house. I could HEAR the clock ticking, which I have never got to exspirience. Its then I cried, the reality hit me. I picked Caleb up and he was so tired and dargging his feet, hes not use to all the excitement! It has since been a full + week since he has been going now and he loves it. We have a wonderful caring teacher and Caleb will ask on the weekends "Is it school yet?" and smile.

I found a really neat DIY printable kit on Pintrest for back to school signs for the kids to hold each year all the way up to 12 grade! Not sure how long I can get away with it, but for as long as he will let me ;) I found the frame at Hobby Lobby 50% 0ff. Totally cute! Heres the DIY link to the sign free-first-day-of-school-printables

I have tons more pictures, but trying not to post TOO many. I also have some lunch pictures for each day and a few more pics of Calebs second and third day of school. Will post more here soon, have a great day!

crayola GLOW sand ball

Crayola Glow Sand Ball, I seen this in a parents magazine for Fourth of July Ideas and seen it on clearance at Walmart a few weeks ago. I snagged it up and gave it a go, guess what? It glowed! I was a little optimistic seeing the glow bubbles were a fail last time, but this was so much fun! We used Yellow and still have two more colors to do. It provided hours of play for Caleb and I rolling the ball back and forth on our driveway. Caleb's words for it were "It looks like outer space and stars" he was right, very cool.

Arapahoe County Fair

I was looking for something fun for Caleb and I to do for the weekend, as this is our personal us time aside from work. Found out on a google search that our county fair was on its last day for the event, so we packed up and went. It was so hot, any bit of shade was highly appreciated. We played games, petting zoo, fishing, ate turkey legs, face painting, watched dog races and then headed back home.
